Question Answer
Why did the Nazis need a solution to unemployment and poor standard of living? For Germany to become a great superpower once again
Name three main categories where the Nazis tried to minimize unemployment and lack of work etc. 1) DAF (German Labour Front) 2) RAD (National Labour Service) 3) Rearmament
What four things did the DAF try to resolve unemployment and a poor standard of living? 1) Set working hours 2) Set rates of pay 3) Made sure workers did what the state needed 4) Made sure employers did what the state needed
What did the RAD do to try to resolve unemployment and a poor standard of living? Because it was compulsory labour, it got everyone working. It also gave the men working good living conditions. Because of the mass of people working, the Nazis were able to construct the autobahn etc.
How did Rearmament try to resolve unemployment and a poor standard of living? It gave people jobs and boosted the economy
How did the Rearmament in Germany grow between 1933 and '39? 1933= 3.5 billion marks to munitions 1939= 26 billion marks
Why did Hitler want Germany to rearm? He wanted Germany to be ready for war
Give six arguments for Nazi success in raising the standard of living. 1) In 5 years unemployment went down by 4.3 million 2) Wages rose and people could afford consumer goods 3) Car ownership increased x3 4) SDA: Improved working conditions 5) KdF: holidays and activities for workers 6) Lot of public support for Nazis because of the standard of living
Give five reasons why the Nazis did not succeed in increasing the standard of living. 1) People had to work longer hours 2) Men were shifted into the military and undesirables and women lost their jobs 3) Although wages rose, so did prices 4) Once the depression was over, all standards of living would rise anyway 5) Germany would soon run out of money because of the over spending of the military
