After surviving an attempted assassination, they were attacked again on their way to the hospital by Gavrilo. This attack was successful, as the Archduke and his wife were killed.

Why did the number of those enlisting began to fall?	After initial enthusiasm started to wear off and the first high casualty rates from Gallipoli were made public, the number of those enlisting began to fall.
How did commitment increase the number of enlistment after it began to fall?	Some men still joined because they felt a commitment to those who had already died. There were also younger brothers joining up after the death of an older brother, believing that they needed to finish the job for their sibling.
How did school's and government's propagandas affect the number of men enlisting in the army?	School's were also involved in war propaganda, as there was a competition among different schools in an area to see which one had the highest percentage of men enlisted.The government also became involved, as it conducted strong propagandas in posters and newspapers.
How did women play their part in convincing men to to enlist?	Women played their part by publicly shaming men who looked fit and healthy enough to enlist. They did this by handing them a white feather, which signified that they regarded the recipient as a coward.
