What are the grievances listed in the Declaration of Independence?
What justification is used for declaring independence?
How did the authors define "all men are created equal"?
What impact do you think that the definition has on the American story?
How is our modern understanding of the phrase different?
The Declaration of Independence was created to declare the 13 colonies independence from the British.
The Bill of Rights was added to the constitution to ensure that those who feared of a strong government could be protected.
The authors believed that the government's purpose was to lead and protect America.
The justification of declaring independence was to keep the people of america protected and supported.
The authors define this by meaning that everyone should have freedom because they are all humans and should be treated equally.
The phrase "all men are created equal" means that everyone should be treated how everyone else is such as the poor should be treated equal as the poor.
I think the impact is how everyone has started treating each other equally for the most part. Such as slavery had ended in 1865, and how segregation ended in 1964.
The grievances in the declaration of independence is where the colonist listed their problems with the British government.
