         • Myelin is the fatty substance that surrounds/insulates the nerve fibers
           • Damaged Myelin forms scar tissue (Sclerosis), giving the disease its name
             • When Myelin or nerve fiber is damaged, nerve impulses are distorted causing multiple symptoms.
               • Fatigue, Numbness, Weakness, Dizziness...
               • Pain, Emotional Changes, Cognative Changes...
               • Walking Difficulty, Vision Problems, Bladder Issues...
               • Depression, and Spasticity
                 • The cause of MS is still unknown, but scientists believe that different factors can contibute to the being diagnosed with MS
                   • Lack of vitamin D
                   • Environmental factors
                   • Smoking increases your risk
                     • There are no "official" treatments, but there are steps to take to slow down the course of MS
                       • Medications are used to modify the disease course, treat relapses, and manage symptoms
                   • Not hereditary
