Population Growth -China (One Child Policy)

1. Each couple=one child
  1. Men couldn't marry until 22, women couldn't marry till 20
    1. Wanted more boy children for army
Rules...
1. break policy=fines and child would have no education
2. Women would be forced to abort if 2nd child or predicted a girl
Advantages....
1. Women are more successful as they focus on their career
  1. 400 million fewer people born
    1. food is readily avaliable (no famine)
      1. better standard of living (free education for child)
    2. 5-10% rise in salary for couples
2. better technology- less strain on health care
Disadvantages...
1. Women forced to have abortions
  1. couples are put under pressure
    1. Girls are abandoned if not wanted
2. People have lost their humans rights
Then it changed......
1. In 2012, population of children between 0-4 has decreased from boys=60 million to 50 million and girls= 60 million to 40 million
  1. Population was decreasing due to less births
    1. In 2030 predicted more older people than young
      1. Community would suffer because older people wouldn't work= weak economy=taxes increase
        Less girls and every girl would leave home when married
        rules change- if had boy first could have another child.
