                                  3. Traditional Assessment is a uniform way for students to demonstrate what they know through a narrow scope typically mandated by the district or school.
                                    1. Traditional assessments examples are teacher created tests or standardized tests
                                      1. Curriculum drives assessment
                                        1. Traditional assessment in standardized test form data can be used to determine funding
                                    2. My Thoughts:
                                      1. Authentic assessment is the best way to assess what students know
                                        1. Real world experience is the best indicator of understanding
                                          1. Importance of authentic instruction
                                            1. Research backed- Ken Goodman, Yetta Goodman, Stephen Krashen, Lev Vygotsky, etc
                                          2. Traditional Assessment has more clout, because it reduces what students "know" to a score
                                            1. This can be done on a larger scale that authentic assessment- example ACCESS testing
                                            2. Finding the balance
                                              1. Figuring that out
