  1. INPUT devices

    • Keyboard- as you press each key, it allows the user to enter data by clicking on each key.
    • Mouse- as you click on an icon your computer, the input data from the mouse is sent to the microprocessor which then causes the icon to be opened.
    • Touch screen- the touch screen picks up the movement that your finger makes on the surface and produces input data which the computer system can act upon.
    • Microphone- the microphone system picks up sound waves and converts them into digital input data via the sound chip or sound card.
  2. OUTPUT devices

    • Headphones- head phones are output devices because it plays the music through them and not out of the speakers.
    • Braille reader- a braille reader would read the sentence/word by sensing the dots or indents and translate it into words
    • 3D printer- you would type something into the computer which would then send a signal to the printer telling it to print a certain object
    • Projector- a projector has signals sent to it from the computer and displays whatever is on the computer screen
  3. STORAGE devices

    • CD-Data is burned onto the surface of the CD using a laser in the CD drive. A laser beam is also used to read the data stored on the disk.
    • DVD- a DVD is a storage device because information is stored on it which can then be turned into a picture or video when in a DVD player.
    • Hard drive- hard drives are storage devices because they hold important/useful information
