Macbeth: Who is he
In the beginning of the play Macbeth is presented as "brave Macbeth" by the captain, when he is fighting both the rebellion led by MacDonald and the Norwegian army, to King Duncan.
- This shows the audience that he is worthy to have the title of Thane of Glamis and that he is one of the kings favourites.
- The adjective "brave" tells us that Macbeth is a honourable character and will do anything to protect Scotland from evil and corruption
- This depiction of Macbeth will slowly change throughout the play as he is corrupted by his hamartia of ambition and greed as he depends on the witches for his ideal future.
