Features of plants, animals and fungi
Plants!
- Plants are multicellular
- they have chloroplasts which means they can photosynthesise
- the cells have cell walls which are made of cellulose
- Store carbohydrates as sucrose or starch
Animals
- animals are multicellular
- animal cells do not have chloroplast so cannot photosynthesis so respire for energy
- animal cells do not have cell walls, this means that their shapes differ greatly and are squishy
- Most animals have a nervous coordination, this means that they can change rapidly to changes in the environment
- Animals move around from place to place
- they store carbohydrates as glycogen
Fungi
- some are unicellular/single celled
- others have a body made of mycelium, which is made up of hyphae, this has lots of nuclei
- Do not photosynthesise
- Cell wall made up of chitin
- feed by sapotrophic nutrition, they secret extracellular exymes into the area around them, to dissolve food then absorb the nutrientr
- Stores carbohydrates as glycogen
