UNDERSTANDING TEAM PROCESSES
refers to the steps a team goals through from start to finish
FORMING
members come together and get to know each other
STORMING
find roles, test each other,ideas,discussions , past experience + future resources
NORMING
calming, WIP test, team roles assigned, agree on team direction, team briefing
ADJOURNING
*mourning *transforming
PERFORMING
work is done, barriers + problems addressed, production = cohesion + buy in
4. Allowing for diversity and creativity
ALLOWING FOR DIVERSITY +CREATIVITY
if all members have similiar personalities, interests + abilities
may be a problem
more diversity = better, brainstorming, heated discussions and creative ideas
different abilities = various aspects of a task are done at a higher standard
CONFLICT MANAGEMENT

DYSFUNCTIONAL
can be aggressive, refuse to compremise
must be solved by:
STEP ONE : NEGOTIATION
STEP TWO: CONCILIATION
- 3rd person facilitates discussion - ensure both get a chance to speak.
STEP THREE: MEDIATION
STEP :4: ARBITRATION
3rd person makes a binding decision: eg go to manager who makes the decision
- 3rd person listens and advises - decision up to the 2 partys
2 parties compromise on own. eg - 2 workers discuss issues
FUNCTIONAL CONFLICT
non aggressive, ideas flow, can lead to compremise
