                                            1. can be aggressive, refuse to compremise

                                                1. STEP ONE : NEGOTIATION
                                                  1. STEP TWO: CONCILIATION
                                                    1. - 3rd person facilitates discussion - ensure both get a chance to speak.
                                                      1. STEP THREE: MEDIATION
                                                        1. STEP :4: ARBITRATION
                                                          1. 3rd person makes a binding decision: eg go to manager who makes the decision
                                                          2. - 3rd person listens and advises - decision up to the 2 partys
                                                        2. 2 parties compromise on own. eg - 2 workers discuss issues
                                                  2. FUNCTIONAL CONFLICT
                                                    1. non aggressive, ideas flow, can lead to compremise
