1. What is it?

   • A code
   • Hypertext Markup Language
   • A system for tagging files
   • It consists of a serise of elements, which tell the browser how to display the content
     • These elements are made up of tags
       • These tags are basically instructions that tell the browser how to display the webpage
       • <body>
       • <head>
       • <title>
     • A code which describes the structure of a webpage for the browser
   • Invented by Tim Burners-Lee

2. Internet and www

   • www = world wide web
   • Websites are stored in servers around the world
   • A collection of websites
     • Browsers are search engines which match the website address to its IP address in the domain name system
   • The internet is a system that links devices to any webpage they choose
   • The www is a place where devices can use or add information to the network

3. Why is it important to learn about HTML?

   • You can understand the code behind other websites, which can help you innovate in business
   • It increases your chances and possibilities of finding an occupation
   • If you need to make a website, you can then recode and customize it
