secondary storage

  1. secondary storage is where you store data permanently which is called non-volatile.

  2. Solid State

    • Disadvantages
      • It is less cost effective in comparison to magnetic because it has a much smaller capacity. Therefore it can not hold a lot of data, unlike Magnetic Storage.
    • Advantages
      • More durable and can read and write data much more faster than Magnetic storage. Therefore it can read and write much faster than Magnetic Storage.
  3. Magnetic Storage

    • Advantages
      • This is cost effective due to having a larger capacity than solid state. Therefore can hold a bigger amount of data, when needed.
      • Disadvantage
        • Not as durable as solid state because it has moving parts, therefore it is more likely to break when dropped on the floor.
  4. Optical Storage

    • Advantages
      • This is very portable and is cost effective. Therefore the storage device can be used on other devices, and is for a good value of money.
    • Disadvantages
      • This is not very durable and has a limited capacity. Therefore it can not hold a lot of data, and can get damaged more easily than Magnetic and Solid stata storage.
