Secondary Storage

    • Advantages
      • Disadvantages
        • Not very durable
        • Limited capacity
      • Cost effective

  2. Solid State

    • Advantages

      • It can read and write faster than magnetic storage
    • Disadvantages
      • Less cost effective
      • It has a limited lifespan
    • It uses microchips to store data instead of magnetised disks
    • It does not contain any moving parts
  3. Magnetic storage

    • Advantages
      • Cost effective
      • It has a larger capacity than solid state
    • Disadvantages
      • Not as durable due to moving parts
      • Reads/writes data slower in comparison to solid state
    • Data is stored by magnetising the surface of flat circular plates called platters
    • The platters rotate at a high speed
  4. Secondary storage is non volatile which means the data does not get deleted when the computer turns off

  5. A computer system stores data, programs, the operating system and files
