1. Introduce yourself

   • don't think they have to earn you attention

4. good speakers

   • understand that no one has to listen to them, so they work hard to make you want to pay atention

5. how you can win the audience attention

   • establish a problem which many people in your audience have, then establish the solution to their problem
     • mention an interesting fact, or a surprising statistic to get people's attention
       • you can engage people by telling a short story and connecting it to your topic

6. you need structure your presentation clearly and organize your information

   • signposting languages
     • using words or phrases to show where your points begin and end

7. Dealing with problems

   • -forget important words -cue cards with key points (vocabulary you need) -filler phases: -where was I? -so, whats what I saying? - whats the word in English again?
   • -Said something wrong -Mistakes and clarifications -let me rephrases that -actually, what I mean to say is… - to clarify, I wanted to say that …
   • -adding something you forgot -let me just add one more thing -i´d like to add something to point we discussed earlier -let me return to an earlier point briefly
   • Questions that you didn´t know the answer: - delay answering -deflect the questions -dismoss the question
