Elements: pure substances that have specific properties at certain temperatures and react in certain ways
Atom: most basic part of any element
- Proton: subatomic particle that defines the element, has a positive charge
- Atomic Number: number of protons
- Electron: a subatomic particle in an electron cloud that can change, has a negative charge
- Ion: charged atom with more or less electrons
- Neutrons: in the nucleus, are neutral charge and subatomic particles
- Isotope: an atom with more or less neutrons {different masses}
- Nucleus: contains protons and neutrons, center of atom
- Mass Number: Protons + Neutrons
