  1. BBC News @ 10 o'clock features:
    1. Older presents usually, dressed more proffesionally using more sophisticated vocaualry and talking about more serious issues.
      1. Colour scheme; black, white and red. Sophisticated and simple yet bold at the same time. Colours having connataions of seriousness, danger and darkness. Related to the topics being spoken about?
        1. Theme tune; quick and upbeat suggesting urgency in what is about to be said.
          1. Topics spoken about are usually related to things such as health, war and the economy. All topics younger people might be interested in, but do not necessarily have to be as worried/effected by them.
            1. On after the water shed so can include more inappropriate language and sometimes offensive/graphic scenes.
            2. Newsround features:
              1. Colour scheme is green, purple and black. Two of the three colours are quite bright and therefore more visually appealing. Colours hint at a younger audience and the graphics used on the title are quite fun and interesting looking, rather than formal and serious.
                1. Younger presenters who are dressed in their casual home clothes to make them appear easier to relate to and also quite casual.
                  1. Presents speak informally and often make jokes with the audience. Less serious and formal vocabulary is used and the topics are seen as 'lighter'.
                    1. Lots of 'entertaining' stories and new clips are shown/talked about in Newsround, such as stories like 'new see-through frog discovered'. The heavier topics are spoke about although only briefly and have been highly censored, Target audiences is mainly for teens/young adults.
                      1. Newsround speaks about celebrities and what they are doing with their lives more than it speaks about topics to do with the economy or world wide political issues as it is aimed at a target audience who still want to be updated on things, although not to do with certain topics. Also aimed at people, who because of their age, would not have such a vast understanding of the world and the way it works.
                      2. The Four C's:
                        1. Mainstreamers; usually the type of people who tend to like the latest chart music and current movies out in the cinema. When watching the news, they wouldn't like anything too challenging or offensive.
                          1. Aspirers; these are usually the type of people who view people they see on TV as their role models. They want to be like them and see the way their live their lives as the way they would want to live theirs. Physical materials and social status' are what drive these people to do well.
                            1. Succeeders; these people believe they are already established in life and they have been successful. They think all of this has come with experience so they tend to be the older audience.
                              1. Reformers; they like media products that challenge the ‘norm’. They have a tendency to use new technologies to gain access and research into new music or music that exists in niche markets. Personal growth and how they can take part in make social changes as they view this to be very important.
