    1. a series of connected flattened sacs that plays a central role in protein synthesis because it has ribosomes attached to it and it transports proteins.
    2. smooth endoplasmic reticulum (ER)
      1. the synthesis of lipids, steroid hormoones, detoxification of harmful metabolic byproducts and storage of calcium ion. does not have ribosomes.
      2. golgi apparatus
        1. a group of flatten disc-like structures located close to the ER
        2. nucleus
          1. contains genetic material and controls the activity of the cell.
