Cells, tissues and organs
  1. Cells
    1. Cells are the basic building blocks of all animals and plants. They are so small, you need to use a light microscope to see them.
      1. Humans are multicellular. The cells in many multicellular animals and plants are specialised, so that they can share out the processes of life. They work together to support the different processes in an organism.
        1. Multicellular organisms are organised into increasingly complex parts. In order, from least complex to most complex: cells, tissues, organs, organ systems, organism
          1. circulatory system respiratory system digestive system nervous system reproductive system
            1. Examples of tissues are, muscle, the lining of the intestine, the lining of the lungs, xylem (tubes that carry water in a plant)
            2. CELLS MAKE---> TISSUES WHICH MAKE --> ORGANS
              1. Tissues
                1. Animal cells and plant cells can form tissues, such as muscle tissue in animals. A living tissue is made from a group of cells with a similar structure and function, which all work together to do a particular job.
                2. Organs
                  1. A group of tissues that perform a specific function or group of functions.
                    1. Some organs are the liver, heart, brain, kidney, stomach...
