Mesopotamia
  1. The things that enabled farming in Mesopotamia were fertile soil, a good water source and good climate. Mesopotamia was also located in the fertile cresent which had the best things to help grow crops and develop settlement. Mesopotamia was located in the best trade routes.
    1. The technology that developed farming were the levees, water gates and irrigation canals. These inventions would help control the water flow of the water when farmers did not know when their crops would flood. Farmers also used ploughs to open up their soil. They also created sickles to make harvesting crops easier.
      1. Farming produced so much potential that some people stopped farming all together. Some people also developed different skills that gave the city good supplies.
    2. The occupational possibilities that arose from a surplus of food, only a few farmers were needed to farm. People who began to specialize in other occupational jobs were scribes, priest, artisans, tax collectors, craftsmen soldiers and farmers. People also moved away to form different villages.
      1. The technology that was made with a surplus of food was people would trade their extras for different objects. Also allowed people to obtain objects that they did not have, such as gold, wood and copper. This also help people to create sea and land navigation.
        1. The specialization in writing helped to record taxes and records of trade. Writing started on soft clay tablets withe a wedged shaped stylus. Writing also enabled people to record laws and to make them official.
      2. Archaeology is the study of begginings and artifacts to reveal cultures and civilations. Archaeology has revealed much on the Sumerian beliefs and lifestyles. The most significant find was the discovery of a tomb withe 74 attendants and their ruler. This showed that the Sumerians believed in an afterlife. Archaeologists discovered acient tombs, scrolls, cities and many different clay tablets written in cunieform. Some of these discoveries have revealed more about our past and more about how civilation started, formed and lived.
        1. The belief on an afterlife is important because if you were to live a good life, you would make better decisions and earn your passage to heaven. It shows how you would do better things to go to the afterlife. The more good you would do on earth,the better life you would live in the afterlife. Some choices you would make, weather if they are good or bad, shows what kind of person you are. There is still a chance to do good. It is never too late.
          1. People would have willingly payed taxes because they all thought they could benefit for themselves, the land and others. This also could of helped because when people worked they were given food to provide their family.
