Ions.

1. Ions - electrically charged particles.

   • Ions are formed when an atom either loses or gain electrons
     • Atoms lose of gain electrons to stable the outer electron arrangement to the nearest noble gas

2. When atoms gain electrons we get an ion formed with an overall negative charge.

   • Similarly, when an atom loses electrons it become an ion with an overall positive charge

3. Metals will lose electrons and form positively charger ions

   • Non-metals will gain electrons and form negatively charged ions
