    1. A narrow hole in the ground that is used to locate resources such as oil and water.
      1. It can become very expensive, the further you drill down.
      2. Geochemical Analysis
        1. A way of sampling water and analyzing it.
          1. It is a cheap way of analyzing resources.
          2. Magnetic Anomalies
            1. An image of the earth is taken. It shows the places where magnetism is unusually high in bright red.
              1. It allows you to find variations in magnetism or chemistry in rocks.
              2. Seismic Survey
                1. A boat travels along a stretch of water. It sends out seismic waves periodically. These waves hit the rocks on the ocean bed then reflect back up to the surface. Receivers generate a map of the rock structure.
