Testing
Syntax Errors
- A syntax error is when code does not follow the rules of the programming language it has been written in
- An example would be a spelling error in a program, or too many or too few brackets being used
Logic Errors
- A logic error is when a program will run but it will output an unusual or incorrect output
- An example is an infinite while loop, one that wont stop until terminated
Test Plan
- Logic errors and synatx errors can be identifies by testing. Testing properly requires a test plan
- A test plan requires a table that includes a test number for each test, a box with the data being inputted, a box for the expected outcome and a box for the actual outcome
- There are three different types of data for testing
- Normal Data
- A piece of normal data used in the range of accptable inputs
- Extreme data
- A piece of data used at the very minimum or maximum limit of accepted inputs
- Erroneous data
- A piece of data not withing the accepted range of data used
- Normal Data
