1. Fields and datatypes

   • Data Type - This sets what kind of information can be stored
   • Table - A set of records with information. Each record within a table has the same feilds
   • Field - One piece of data or information
   • Record - All the data or information about one person or thing

2. Database structure

   • You can find different data types like:
     • Text
     • Auto number
     • Date/Time
   • Text - the ability to change text by adding, deleting and rearranging letters, words, sentences and paragraphs
   • Date/Time - the ongoing time of day in the computer
   • Auto number - a type of data used in Microsoft access tables to generate an automatically incremented numeric counter
   • Actions that can be performed on a database:
     • Save file
     • Load old files
       • Add record
         • List records
         • End/Quit
       • Edit record
       • Search file
     • Create a new file
       • Sort file
       • Delete record

3. Queries

   • A query refers to the action of retrieving data from your database
   • Queries are one of the things that make databases so powerful
   • If you have a lot of data you probably don't want to see everything. You'll only want to see data that fits into that certain criteria
   • Usually you'll be selective with how much data you want returned
