They are arranged in order of there atomic number. Group number  - Represents number of electrons in the outer shell.

I like these notes, which are clear and helpful. There is one small mistake ... the notes contain a common spelling error: "They are arranged in order of THERE atomic number"; it should be 'their'. But the notes deserve the Favourite I've given them!
