Transverse Waves

With a transverse wave, the oscillations travel perpendicular to the direction of travel

Examples of transverse waves are light waves, waves in the sea and ripples in a pond

If a transverse wave travels through a medium, the displacement of the medium is also perpendicular to the direction of travel

Make you own!!

You can make you own transverse wave using a slinky and two people

Each person holds on end of the slinky, one person stays completely still, and the other moves the slinky up and down .

This creates a  transverse wave travelling towards the other person!
