Chemistry is the science of how 3 particles came together to form everything.
Everything that happens in the world is attributed to Chemistry
Atoms:
Atomic theory has not been proven.
Albert Einstein discovered the atomic theory and settled it by proving it mathematically.
Brownian motion is the movement of atoms.
Atom: meaning indivisible.
Everything is made up of atoms
Proton - positive charge
Neutron - neutral
Electron - exact same charge as the proton, but negative (less mass)
All surround the nucleus
Properties:
The amount of protons in an atom will determine the type of element, which is the defining trait.
Number of protons is the atomic number above the 'box'
Silver was one of the first elements to be added to the periodic table.
Nuclei:
Thousand times smaller than the atom
Held together by the strong nuclear force
While electrons can move freely, protons are fixed and stable.
Nucleus will never change
The atomic number is the definition of the atom
The neutron will not change a property of an atom
When the right number of protons and neutrons get together the nuclei will form
The relative atomic mass is the number of neutrons + the number of protons over the number of all of that element on earth.
Isotopes have different masses, but the same chemical properties of the element.
Atomic mass is just the addition of protons and neutrons.
