Flashcards
B1-16a
Flashcards do conjunto (16)
- 13 main factors of engine efficiency are?1. Thermal
2. Volumetric
3. Mechanical - 2What does the wrist pin do?secures piston to connecting rod
- 3what is another name for swept volume and what is swept volume?1. displacement volume
2. volume of the cylinder between TDC & BDC - 4What is another name for clearance volume and what is clearance volume?1. unswept volume
2. volume reaming above the piston at TDC - 5What happens to clearance volume at TDC?It is at a minimum
- 6Leaner movement of a piston from TDC to BDC is called?A stroke
- 7What is piston displacement?Total Volume swept by all pistons over 1 revoulotion
- 8What is compression ratio?Cylinder volume at BDC compared to cylinder volume at TDC
- 9What is the compression ratio formula?Swept volume + Unswept volume
---------------------------------------------
unswept volume - 10List the 3 main factors of engine efficiency.1. Thermal
2. Volumetric
3. Mechanical - 11What does thermal efficiency mean?its a ratio of how much work is performed in relevance to amount of fuel putt in.
- 12What is the formula for Thermal EfficiencyHorsepower x 33000
--------------
F x BTU x K - 13What is Volumetric Efficiency? The ratio of the amount of air the engine takes into the cylinder to the total volume of the cylinder
- 14What is the Volumetric Efficiency formula?Volume of charge
----------------
piston displacement - 15How can a high CHT affect the Volumetric efficiency? As temp increases density decreases meaning fewer pounds of air taking in cylinder.
- 16How will incomplete fuel scavenging affect VEIncoming fuel-to-air mix will be diluted from exhaust gas meaning less fresh air drawn into cylinder.
