- 1Discuss strengths of qualitative dataGives a lot of rich detail and is much broader, as it allows PPTs to expand on thoughts and points and opinions
Usually has greater external validity as it provides greater insight into the PPT's world view - 2Discuss the weaknesses of qualitative dataDifficult to analyse - does not lend itself to statistical testing --> comparisons are hard to draw and patterns are hard to detect
This means that consequences are often based on subjective interpretation and can be biased --> particularly if the researcher has a preconceived idea of what they will find - 3Evaluate the use of quantitative dataEasy to analyse --> conclusions can be drawn and comparisons can be made
More objective however narrower in scope --> does not tend to reflect real life - 4Outline strengths and weaknesses of primary dataAuthentic data collected by the researcher for the purposes of the investigation --> fits the job (relevant)
Costs time, effort, planning and resources - 5Outline strengths and weaknesses of secondary dataInexpensive and easily accessed
Researcher may discover that the information required already exists
May be substantial variation in the quality of the data --> it may appear useful at first, but then turn out to be outdated or incomplete
The research may also not suit the needs of the researcher.
