The Treaty of Versailles

1. Military Parts

   • Army was limited to 100,000 men and weren't allowed any tanks
   • Rhineland became de-militarised
   • Navy were allowed 6 battleships but no submarines
   • The airforce was scrapped
   • Rhine was occupied by the Allies for 15 years

2. Land/Territory

   • North Schleswig given to Denmark
   • The Polish Corridor (West Prussia and Posen) given to Poland
   • Upper Silesia given to Poland
   • Alsace Lorraine given back to France
   • Eupen and Malmedy were given to Belguim
   • The Saar was under the League of Nations for 15 years
   • Lost all of its over seas colonies

3. War Guilt

   • Article 231 meant that Germany had to admit that they had started the war
   • Germany had to pay 6.6 billion in reparations

4. Other Parts to the Treaty

   • Germany couldn't unite with Austria
   • The Allies had to occupy the Rhine for 15 years

5. Why did the Germans hate the ToV?

   • The Cost of Reparations would put them in debt
   • They had lost 13% of their land, making them lose their staus at the time
   • Citizens of Germany would need to travel through Poland to get back into Germany
   • They felt that they couldn't defend themselves with their military reductions
