3. Availability problems - info no longer available, forgotten

4. Long term memory

   • Capacity: Unlimited
     • Duration: Lasts forever
       • Relatively permanent

5. Short term memeory

   • Capacity: 7(+/-2) items
     • Duration:10-20 secs
       • Temporary

6. Displacement (STM)- limitied capacity so will be pushed out by new info

7. Decay (STM &LTM) - STM, physical trace will disappear - LTM, physical trace will get weaker and weaker the longer info not used

8. Shallow processing - aren't thinking of meaning

   • Coding info based on it's physical characteristics

9. Deep processing - attaching meaning to the info

   • What it means and why etc.

10. Terry

    • IV - Recall immediately or after delay
    • DV - How many recalled
    • Repeated measures design
      • 1 - Recall straight away
      • 2 - Recall after delay
    • In groups of 15 students
