1. Osteology

   • Sternoclavicular Joint
     • The sc joint involves the medial end of the clavicle, the clavicular facet on the sternum and the superior border of the cartilage of the first rib
     • Irregular saddle-shaped articular surface
     • Enclosed by a capsule reinforced by anterior and posterior sternoclavicular ligaments
     • Muscles add stability.
       • Ant sternocleidomatoid
       • Post by sternotheyroid and sternohyoid
       • inf by subclavius
     • Osteokinematics
       • Elevates and depresses
         • parallet to the frontal plane
         • Ant/post axis
         • Elevates: convex roll superior and slides inf on the concavity of sternum
       • Protracts and Retracts
         • Parallel to the horizonatal plane
         • Vertical axis
         • Retract
           • Concave rolls and slides post on convex of sternum
         • Protract
           • Same just anterior
       • Rotates about the clavicles longitudinal axis
         • Spin of sternal end relative to lat surface of articular disc
           • Abduction or flexion of shoulder
   • Acromioclavicular joint
     • Articulation between the lat end of the clavicle and the acromion of the scabula
     • Flat no roll and slide arthrokinematics
       • The clavicle slides over the acromion in a dislocation
     • Support structures
       • Superior and inferior ligament
       • Superior capsular ligament
         • Reinforced by deltoid and trapezious
       • Coracoclavicular ligament
         • Trapezoid
           • Sup coracoid process to trapezoid line on clavicla
         • Conoid
           • Prox base of coracoid to the conoid tubercle on the clavicle
     • Kinematics
       • Upward and downward rotation
         • Occurs as the scapula swings up and out
           • Happens with abduction or flexion of the shoulder.
           • 30 of upward rot at AC
           • Frontal/scapular plane motion
       • Horizontal and sagital "rot adjustment motions"
         • Its a pivoting or twisting tpe motion around lat end of clacle
         • Horizonal
           • Vertical axi
           • Internal and ext rotaion
           • Example during protraction the AC joint internally rotates
         • Sagittal
           • medial-lat axis
           • Ant and post tilting
           • Example during elevation the scapula tilts anteriorly
   • Scapulothoracic joint
     • Resting position for the capula is 10 of ant tilt, 5-10 of upward roationa dn 30-40 of int rotation
     • Elevation and depression
       • composite of SC and AC joint roations
     • Protraction and retraction
       • Summation of horizontal plane roations at SC and AC joints
     • Upward and Downward rotation
       • Summation of clavicular elevation at SC and scapular up at the AC
