Refractory Periods of Action Potentials
Control frequency of action potentials
Relative
- State of axon during repolarisation
- When a larger than normal electrical current is required to produce an action potential
- State of axon during repolarisation
Absolute
- State of axon during repolarisation
- When a new action potential can't be generated
- State of axon during repolarisation
Ensures action potential only goes in 1 direction
