4. Drug Reconstitution & Dilution

   • Comes in a liquid form so no reconstitution is required
     • Combined with Mannitol in either NS or D5 1/2 NS 1/2. D5W alone cannot be used.

8. Usual Dose & Rate of Administration

   • Dose & Rate will Vary based on patient. Dosed using BSA. Not to be run as a rapid infusion. Typically run over 2 hours

9. Contraindications & Warnings

   • Hypersensitivity to cisplatin or other platinum-containing compounds.
     • Myelosuppressed Patients
       • Patients with pre-existing impaired renal function
         • Patients with a hearing deficit
           • Pregnancy Risk Category D

10. Antidote for Patient Reaction

    • There is no specific antidote available
      • Discontinue Use
        • Administration of whole blood products

11. Drug Drug Interactions

    • Aminoglycosides (i.e. Gentamicin)
      • Loop Diuretics (i.e furosemide)
        • Anticonvulsant Agents
          • Ohter Antineoplastic agents
            • Live Virus Vaccines
              • Drug Food Interactions
                • None

12. Ongoing Monitoring

    • Side effects should be monitored closely as they can be frequent and become more severe with every dose after the fist.
      • Hearing tests are ordered for high dose therapies
        • Blood Tests such as a CBC will be done to monitor electrolytes and organ functions
