    Semiconductor industry is in the heart of electronic supply chain. Semiconductors are widely used in recent daily lives. They are found in personal computers, laptop, mobile phones, cars, toys etc. This is also a capital extensive industry as it requires extremely expensive machine, using precious materials and involving wide spread of manufacturing processes.

    As the focus of the study is to reviewing the body of evidence of sustainability in the semiconductor industry, literature review is not only a critical aspect of the research. But, literature review is the focus of the study itself.The review undertaken to those selected published literature from several sources with following basic criteria of inclusion; * Theory : sustainability, sustainable development * Key issues  for semiconductor industry * Trend in semiconductor industry

    Sustainability concept at Infineon covers aspects from suppliers to customer, employees to social stakeholders and investor with six fields of activity: Business Ethics, Corporate Citizenship, CSR Supply Chain Management, Environmental Sustainability, Occupational Health and Safety, Human Resources Management and Human Rights. Even though it has shown positive results as one of most sustainable company in the world award, the challenges in the future development need to be anticipated to prepare long term sustainability. The recent financial and economic crisis may affect this industry, based on McKinsey research, CAGR of semiconductor industry fell from 7 to 3 percent from 2008 to 2014 caused by drop in demand due to no major growth and increased competition.
