-5 conditions(each with nine participants) and the independent variable was manipulated by changing the verb (smashed, collided, bumped, hit, contacted)
-about an hour and a half & counterbalancing used - 9Results of firstMean estimate of speed (mph)
Smashed: 40.8
Collided: 39.3
Bumped: 38.1
Hit: 34.0
Contacted: 31.8 - 10Conclusions of first1. the results could be due to a distortion in the memory of the participant because of the different verb
2. could be due to response-bias factors when the p is not sure of the exact speed so adjusts their estimate to fit in with the expectations of the questioner (demand characterises)
