Description

Meta-analysis:​​​​​ data analyses from a review of studies sharing the same aim/hypothesis, effect size (dependent variable) may be produced.

Case study: detailed study of a single individual, institution or event using may different research methods.

Content analysis: form of indirect observation of the artefacts people produce.

Evaluation

Meta-analysis: useful numerical value to summarise a group of studies, however the studies may not be comparable.

Case study: in-depth data related to rare events/behaviours, however generalisation may not be justified and data may be unreliable because retrospective and there is no 'before comparison'.

Content analysis: high ecological validity because it's based on real events, easily replicated. However it may suffer from observer bias.
