Crime scene is investigated with evidence, eg weapons used

Police attempt to identify if the criminal is a mass, spree, or serial killer. Location, time of day and how long the murders took over time is also considered.

Crime assessment

The criminal is classed as either a disorganised or an organised criminal

Criminal profile

Offender constructed profile about their habits, background and beliefs.

Crime assessment

Apprehension

Written report is given to police and persons matching profile. If new evidence is found, return to step 2.

The report is validated, and if correct, criminal is seized and arrested.
