1. The process of extending a class.

2. Declare a class 'final' to make it inextensible.

3. Develops an "is a" relationship.

4. The subclass inherits all public methods and fields of the superclass.

   • The subclass cannot access the private methods from the superclass.

5. Overriding

   • Purpose: to change the behavior of a method.
   • To override a method, you have to write the new method in the subclass.
   • If only the name is the same but the list of arguments is different, then it is method overloading.
   • It is not possible to override a private method.

6. It is legal to assign an instance of a subclass to a superclass variable.

   • This is because it is guaranteed that the subclass "is a" superclass. The opposite is not true, the superclass is not always a subclass.
