1. Is described as a superior mental adaptation that allows the instrumentation of relationships or exchanges between the individual and their social environment.

2. Applications of cognitive theory in education

   • scaffolding
     • The learning or process through which we obtain knowledge has to be facilitated through the provision of external aids.
   • Importance of values, needs and expectations
   • Work with the already known
     • sense of new information
   • In search of learning by discovery
     • The subject is an active entity in learning and the process of knowing

3. Modes of representation of reality

   • For Bruner learning is active
     • The individual has a cognitive structure that allows him to build knowledge and make inferences.
       • Enactive representation
         • Learn how to ride a bycicle
       • Iconic representation
         • Photograph or drawing
       • Symbolic representation
         • Information is obtained through symbols, such as words, concepts, abstractions and written language.

4. Active subject and categorization theory

   • Individual becomes the priority or the active subject
     • Can establish two types of processes:
       • Concept formation
         • Learns a concept or category
       • Concept attainment
         • Receives stimuli in order to infer the main attributes of the category that has been formed
