   • If the child has had a bad childhood they may struggle to form relationships
     • CONTINUITY HYPOTHESIS
     • sequence of attachments developing
       • Non-focused orienting and signalling
         • Focus on one or more figures
           • Secure base behaviour
     • Critical period for attachment

   • no distress on seperation

4. Secure attachment (Type B)

   • distress on separation and greets mother on return

5. Insecure resistant (Type C)

   • Clingy and shows large amounts of distress on seperation
