Elizabeth

1. Mr. Darcy

   • One of the richest men in the novel. He lives on the Pemberley estate. His attitude starts off as very proud and arrogant but changes throughout the progression of his relationship with Lizzy. Elizabeth realizes Darcy's arrogance and chooses to ignore his pursuit of her. Darcy keeps trying to earn Lizzy's admiration, but his first attempt at a proposal fails. After this, he writes Lizzy a letter explaining all of his wrong doing to her. After much thinking, Lizzy's feelings towards Darcy bgin to change. After seeing him again at Pemberley, she realizes that rejection has humbled him, and his manners have changed. The thing that really cathces Lizzy's attention is how Darcy finds Lydia and Wickham in London and pays for their marriage. This event spurs Lizzy to accept Darcy's proposal.
   • Miss Darcy
     • Darcy's sister who at the beginning dislikes Lizzy, but after Lizzy and Darcy's marriage, they become close friends. Also, she almost ruins Jane's happiness with Bingley.

2. Colonel Forester

   • Colonel Forester, Darcy's cousin, tells Lizzy that Darcy broke up Jane and his friend, in order to try to marry off his sister. Lizzy does not pursue him because of his lack of money.

3. Bingley

   • Darcy's friend who sets his sights on Lizzy's sister, Jane. His realtionship with Jane is briefly broken up when Darcy convinces him that he will not have a happy marriage to Jane. 
   • Caroline Bingley
     • Bingley's older sister who is jealous of Lizzy. She tries to steal Darcy's attention away from Lizzy.
   • Mrs. Hurst
     • Bingley's other sister who strongly dislikes Lizzy, and she tries to ruin Lizzy's chances with Darcy's and Jane's with Bingley.

4. Mrs. Bennet

   • Lizzy's mother who needs one of her daughters to marry to ensure a future for herself.

5. Mr. Bennet

   • Elizabeth's father. Lizzy is his favorite child. He assures that Lizzy would live a happy life with Darcy.

6. Jane

   • Lizzy's sister who she shares all of her feelings with. Even when Jane is in London, Lizzy writes her informing her about her delema with Darcy. Lizzy is closest to this sister.

7. Lydia

   • Lizzy's sister. Runs away with Wickham while with the Gardiners. Darcy finds them and pays for their marriage, causing Lizzy's views of Darcy to change.
   • Wickham
     • First tries to pursue Lizzy, but since Lizzy has little fortune, he goes after Miss King for her large inheritance. After little luck with King, he goes after Lydia in the hopes of keeping a reputation. Since he has a troubled past, Lizzy hopes that Lydia will not marry him, but she does with the help of Darcy's money.

8. The Gardiners

   • Lizzy's aunt and uncle who take her on a trip. They save Lizzy's relationship with Darcy, by first stoping at Pemberley estate. There they run into Darcy, and his changed mannerisms allow Lizzy to fall for him. 

9. Lady Catherine

   • The arrogant aunt of Darcy who cannot imagine what Darcy sees in Lizzy. Even until the end, she tries to convince Lizzy out of the engagement, in hopes that Darcy will marry her daughter. 

10. Mr. Collins

    • Mr. Collins is the next male heir to Mr. Bennet, so he will inherit the Bennet estate. He goes to the Bennet household in search of a wife. He finds Elizabeth suitable, but she refuses his offer of a proposal. He believes that she is playing the typical role of a woman and will accept his offer the next time. When she refuses, he goes to the next best thing, her friend Charlotte and marries her. 
    • Charlotte Lucas
      • Lizzy's lifelong friend and neighbor. At twenty seven, she is desperate for a husband, so she accepts Collins' offer. Lizzy is shocked and disapointed that she would accept the offer, so she goes to visit Charlotte to check on her in Hunsford. She finds her to be content but not in love. She likes the simple lifestyle and perfers Collins to work on his garden.

11. Kitty Bennet

    • Lizzy's sister who spends most of her time with Lydia. She supports Lizzy and becomes closer to her once she is forbidden to visit Lydia.

12. Mary Bennet

    • Lizzy's sister who thinks about every descision she makes.
