Much of the search investigating the effects of day care is limited and hard to interpret. however, the excellent news is that large-scale, high-quality research has been carried out by the NICHD. Details of the research findings will be provided in what follows. first of all i want to indicate some of the reasons why the NICHD research on day care is regarded as outstanding. That will provide useful when it comes to identifying weaknesses in other research.

what are the strengths of the NICHD approach? first it is important to distinguish among the effects due to the quality of care, the quantity of care, and the type of care.
