- 2"brave Macbeth - well he deserves that name"- The captain describes Macbeth as a hero and how the first word is 'brave' which shows he is being painted as a powerful person
- He is admired for his bravery (a trait which suits his identity) - 3"what hath be lost, noble Macbeth hath won"- Being called noble by the king is a very important thing which means he thinks highly of Macbeth
- Macbeth thrives off other defeat - 4"the prince of Cumberland that is a step on which I must fall down, or else o'releap for in my way it lies"- He has changed his attitude towards thoughts on becoming king
- To become king he needs to beat the next in line which is Duncan's son
- Ambition is getting the better of him

- Realises what he's become

- There is no sense of guilt, more relief

- It makes them feel horrible

- Macduff believes that Macbeth is a horrible person

- Macbeth was led to believe that this would never happen until all human's are dead
