Flashcards
Chapter 4
Cards in this deck (24)
- 1What is Sum as a Function?Adds a range of cells and gives a total
- 2What does a line graph do?Plots the data into the graph and joins the points together with a line to see if any trends are visible.
- 3What do Pie Charts do?A total is divided up among a number of different catgories
- 4What does a Bar chart do?Compares values
- 5Why would we use graphs and charts in spread sheets?-information is quickly understood
-to show a relationship between pieces of data
-to help spot a trend
-Comparisons can be made - 6Why would we use replicating cells?-saves time entering
-enters the same formulas/functions several times and wont be many mistakes, and the spreadsheet responds intelligently with an accurate answer. - 7Describe absolute referencingThis is similar to relative but when the formula needs to remain the same for other cells, they have to make it absolute. ($D$3)
- 8Describe Relative cell referencing? When a cell is referred to in a formula/function and can be copied into another.
- 9Name two advantages and two disadvantages for using spreadsheet software?+An artificial recreation
+Automatic Recalculation
+No additional software required
+Safer to run a simulation
+Graphs can be used
+ Variables and constants are used.
- may not be a accurate representation
- when relating to people, cant always give accurate results
-time consuming and expensive to make - 10What is the What If... function? An attempt to find out what is going to happen in the future. It requires a value to be changed so other values are recalculated.
- 11what is a look up function?Gives a value from array based on a given value
- 12What is max as a function?Gives a maximum value from a list
- 13What is an Active Cell?A cell that is currently being used for entering data or formulas/functions
- 14Describe what a Variable is?A variable is an identifier associated with a particular cell, there will be a value.
- 15Why would we use spreadsheet for modelling?-less risk (safer and cheaper) as you don't need to perform the actual test, it can predict the results.
-only needs one model to be created
-backed up and shared - 16What is the difference between formulas and functions?Formulas - are calculations that are entered by the user.
Functions: calculations that are built into the spreadsheet as they are too long to type in itself. - 17what is data when in a spreadsheet?any values that are entered for the use of calculations
- 18Describe a label in a spreadsheet?any test in a cell is describing the data in a row or column
- 19What can a Cell be?-Every cell is uniquely identifiable
-Cells can be formatted
-Cells can be protected +hidden - 20What is a column?a range of cells that go down the spreadsheet.
- 21What is a row?A range of cells that goes across the spreadsheet
- 22Describe 3 advantages of using a workbook-Data changed on one worksheet reflects across the whole workbook
-Different access right can be given
-a workbook is sourced as a single entity (easy to back up and send to others) - 23What is a Workbook?a collection of more than one worksheet on one spreadsheet
- 24What is a worksheet?large grid of cells on a single sheet
