Flashcards
Untitled
Cards in this deck (11)
- 1What do Atoms contain?Nucleus and electrons.
- 2What is the small central Nucleus made up of?Protons and Electrons.
- 3What are around these?Electrons and Shells
- 4When can the number of electrons be the same in an atom? When the Atoms have bonded.
- 5How do Atoms have no charge? The number of protons (in the nucleus) is always the same as the number of electrons (in shells)
- 6What is the charge of Neutrons, Protons and Electrons?Protons are positively charged. (+) Electrons are negatively charged (-) Neutrons do not have a charge (0)
- 7What has an uneven number of protons and neutrons?Ion.
- 8When does this happen? When an electron is lost or gained the proton number does not change.
- 9Where is the Atomic number found?Number on the bottom which means the number of protons or electrons
The number increases across the periodic table - 10Where is the mass number found?Number on the top which means the number of protons and neutrons in the nucleus.
- 11How do you find out the number of Neutrons in an Atom? The number of neutrons in an atom is worked out by subtracting the number of protons (Atomic number) from the Mass number.
