- 1Screens and MonitorsMost PC systems are connected to a monitor so that the user can see what is happening as they work or view a finished product such as document or animation.
- 2CRT monitorBased on Cathode Ray Tubes that fire electrons at a screen to make each pixel glow in the correct colour.

- 7Mobile phone screensAn increasing number of mobile phones come with software pre-installed to enable internet access, and more and more people are using their phone to check e-mail, weather, travel instructions or the football scores.
- 8PDAsGenerally have a larger screen than mobile phones and users expect to be able to run application software such as word processors and spreadsheet on them.
- 9Laser printersIt prints a full page at a time in a similar way to a photocopier. Monochrome lasers are very popular in offices and other situations where they need high quality documents printed quickly, and colour is not very important.
- 10Inkjet printersThey are very popular, in particular for home use, because they tend to be cheaper to buy than lasers, although they can expensive to run, and are generally slower than laser printers.
- 11Multi-function printersMulti-function printers include built-in scanner, and so can be used as a simple photocopier, suitable for home or small office use.
- 12Dot-matrix printersThe main use is to print on multipart stationary. Large line printers can print very quickly, use continuous stationery, and are usually used in industrial situations where high volume printers are needed and quality is not very important.
- 13PlottersUse pens which move across the paper to draw detailed and accurate image. They are used mostly to print large sized technical drawings.
- 14Professional printersA small company needing a large amount of the same document may well find it more cost effective to send the files to a professional print shop to be printed.
- 15SpeakersExternal speakers are plugged into the computer and play sounds and music produced by the sound card.
