Flashcards
Cerebral processing disorders
Cards in this deck (11)
- 1cerebral achromatopsia-complete or partial loss of colour vision
-bilateral damage to V4
-ventral pathway - 2visual object agnosia-can't recognize object with visual stimuli alone
-ventral pathway
-inferior temporal lobe
-associative or apperceptive forms - 3Pure alexia-alexia without agraphia
-can write but not read
-ventral pathway
-corpus callosum lesion= hemialexia
-left occipito-temporal lesion= pure alexia - 4Prospagnosia-inability to recognize faces
-caused by damage to left fusiform gyrus in inferior temporal cortex
-ventral pathway - 5simultanagnosia-can only see one object at a time in visual scene
-dorsal pathway
-bilateral lesions of posterior parietal cortex - 6Akinetopsia-impaired depth perception
-MT/V5 area affected - 7Oculomotor apraxia-impaired visual control of eye movements
-not specific to dorsal stream
-from bilateral frontal lesions
-loss of voluntary saccades and pursuits - 8optic ataxia-impaired visual control of hand movements
-lesions in posterior parietal cortex - 9Balint's syndrome-combo of simultanagnosia, oculomotor apraxia and optic ataxia
-lesion in dorsal visual stream
-increased risk with cerebral hypotension - 10Blindsight-no function in V1
-no conscious detection of visual stimuli
-mediated by subcortical structures
-brain displays 'sighted' behaviour - 11Hemispatial neglect-complete loss of motor and visual function on one side of body
-right inferior parietal lobe
-occurs after large vessel stroke
-heterogenous syndrome
