Cards in this deck (6)

  1. 1System Architecture.Clock Speed
    .Cache Size
    .Number Of Cores
    .ALU (Von Neumann)
    .Embedded Systems
  2. 2Clock SpeedClock speed is the speed at which the CPU works and processes information. This is measured in Megahertz or gigahertz and corresponds with how many instruction cycles the CPU can deal with per second (fetch, decode, execute). A 2gHz CPU performs two billion cycles per second.
  3. 3Cache SizeCache is a small amount of memory in the CPU- closer to the CPU than RAM. It is used to temporarily hold instructions and data that the CPU is likely to reuse, this will make things faster for the user.
  4. 4Why Cache Is Quicker Than RAM?The CPU control unit automatically checks cache for instructions before requesting data from RAM. This saves fetching the instructions and data repeatedly from RAM which is a slow process. Transfers to and from cache takes less time than to and from RAM.
  5. 5Number Of CoresA CPU can contain one or more processing units. Each unit is called a core. CPU's with multiple cores have more power to run multiple programs at the same time. The higher the number of cores, the more cycles the CPU does per second.
  6. 6ALU (Von Neumann).Control Unit
    .Arithmetic Logic Unit
    .Registers
    .Buses
    .Memory Unit
