Statistics - Binomial Distribution

Liv Coote Maths A-Level English 4 cards

Cards in this deck (4)

  1. 1Binomial Distribution- n independent trials (results don't depend on previous results)
    - 2 possible outcomes: P = success, Q = Failure
    -If these conditions are met: X ~ B (n,p)
    (X is binomially distributed with n trials and p probability)
  2. 2FormulaIf the conditions are met, the formula is:
    P(x=r) = nCr x p^r x q^n-r
  3. 3ExpectationIf X ~ B (n,p) , expectation = np
  4. 4QuestionsX ~ B (10,0.7)
    p(x=1) = 10C1 x (0.6)^1 x (0.3)^10
    = 0.0001381
    p(x>1) = p(x=2) = p(x=3) .... p(x=10)
    1 = p(x=0) + p(x=1) + p(x>1)
    p(x>1) = 1 - p(x=0) - p(x=1)
    = 0.9999
