         • That wood comes from trees that have little resin and fibrous texture

         • Wood comes from the trees that producted a lot of resin

3. Forms of wood

   • Natural wood
     • Strips, moulding profiles, boards and plants, beams, panels, sheets or neneers
   • Prefabricated wood
     • Knots or grains, warps

4. The properties of materials

   • Describe their cualites , which determine their behaviour when subjected to external forces
     • Tools
       • Human used their hands as tools and they used sticks and stones to make tools
     • Wood working tools
       • Basic hand saws: hand saw/ tenon saw. Hacksaws: fret saw/ hacksaw. Machine tools: Circular saw/ jigsaw. Hammers: cross-peen/ claw hammer. Mallets: nylon and rubber mallets. Spanners: fixed-jaw spanners/ adjustable spanners. Screwdrivers: scloted screw/philips screw/ automatic screw/ bits for a multi-bit screw/ power screw

5. Natural and processed materials

   • Industrial processes are applied to raw materials, also know as natural resources, to turn them processed materials
     • Wood from trees: planks. Once the materials have been processed they may be classified as either artificial or synthetic
